Before you download

Can it wipe my Windows drive by mistake?

No. The boot disk, system disk, and any disk with Windows or a pagefile can't be wiped, and disks that were attached when you first ran it are protected by serial number.

Does it work on SSDs?

Yes, at the NIST 800-88 "Clear" level. Overwriting may not reach an SSD's spare cells, and the certificate says so. For "Purge", use the drive maker's secure-erase tool.

How does the license work?

Your key arrives by email. Paste it into the app once. To move it to another PC, deactivate it on the old one first. It works offline and checks in about once a week.

What happens after the first year?

Nothing stops working. You keep every version released in your first year, forever. Maintenance at $12 a year is only needed if you want newer versions and bug fixes after that.

Open-source parts

Drive health data comes from smartmontools (GPL-2.0), included unmodified. Its license is in the install folder and its source is at github.com/smartmontools.
